Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Forward with Determination

When was the last time you felt truly empowered in your career?

For me, it happened during the 2024 Digital Marketing Internship Programme by Girls in Marketing, an experience that didn’t just teach me skills but reshaped my entire perspective on the digital marketing world.

This programme wasn’t just about upskilling—it was about unlocking potential, sparking creativity, and finding a community where you’re not only supported but also inspired to be your best. 👩🏼‍💻✨

Why This Programme Stands Out

💡 Inspiration Beyond the Textbook: The programme brought together marketing powerhouses who shared their wisdom and practical insights. From SEO and personal branding to campaign management, every session was a stepping stone to becoming a more confident and competent marketer.

Here’s a glimpse of the incredible sessions that left a memorable mark:

  • Olivia Mae Hanlon: She taught us how to navigate our digital marketing careers with clarity and confidence, proving that with the right mindset, nothing is out of reach.

  • Rita Cidre (Semrush): Her “Your SEO Starter Kit” session broke down SEO into actionable strategies, giving us the tools to conquer search rankings like pros.

  • Leala Jackson: Creativity is the marketer’s superpower, and her session showed us how to channel it effectively to stand out.

  • Lucy Street (Adobe): Her insights on crafting “thumb-stopping” social content were game-changing. The art of grabbing attention has never been clearer.

  • Joanne Sanni: For anyone managing their first marketing campaign, her session was like a roadmap, taking the mystery out of campaign management.

  • Lamees Butt & Suzanne Bannister (RISER): Their advice on authentic self-promotion gave me the tools to present my strengths unapologetically.

  • Keira Penney: Personal branding became less intimidating and more achievable thanks to her guidance on becoming “unmissable.”

Each of these speakers didn’t just share knowledge—they ignited something deeper: the drive to take ownership of my career and embrace the infinite possibilities the digital marketing field offers. 📲📈

Finding My People: The Power of Community

One of the most unexpected gifts of this programme was discovering my tribe. Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share your passion and challenges is powerful. Together, we’ve built a space to grow, learn, and inspire one another—a community that continues to push me towards my goals.

In an industry that’s constantly evolving, having a network of people who get it is invaluable. Girls in Marketing didn’t just connect us; they gave us a platform to thrive as a collective force of aspiring marketers.

What’s Next? A Future Fueled by Strategy and Creativity

This programme has equipped me to confidently pursue my passion for marketing strategy and campaign creation. The tools, inspiration, and support I’ve gained here will serve as the foundation for every step forward in my journey.

To the Girls in Marketing team, the phenomenal speakers, and my fellow participants—thank you for creating an environment where growth, creativity, and determination flourish. You’ve shown me what’s possible, and I’m determined to keep the momentum going. 💓
